Transitioning your wardrobe from Summer to Fall

October 02, 2019 2 min read

Fly Girls!! We're coming up on the cooler months and for many reason we're totally stoked. Bring on Fall and the cozy knit sweaters, over the knee boots, high waist pants and turtlenecks. We're totally ready.

Plus who's not ready for Starbuck's Pumpkin Spice Latte and the onset of the holiday season?

Don't worry if you're not ready for Fall. Chances are you already have the foundation for an ah-mazzzzzing Fall wardrobe in your closet. Sis, you'll just need to add a few pieces to your wardrobe and wear your Summer staples in different ways.

So don't put those Summer pieces up just yet, follow these four rules to create new ways to slay them.

Rule #1 -- Add Tights

Adding tights to your outfit is a funky way to add pattern, color and/or texture for Fall. Stocking up on tights, which typically range from $6-$10 is an affordable way to prolong the life of your favorite summer skirts and dresses. My favorite are opaque tights, because they're not too thin and keep my legs warm. A pair of patterned tights under your favorite mini skirt and over the knee boots screams Fall.

Rule #2 -- Layer Up

Layering is by far one of my favorite things about Fall, maybe its because I love to be warm, but get hot easily and in an instant need to be able to un-layer. The golden rule to layering is: layer long over lean. For example: layer dusters, boyfriend cardigans and and tunics over leggings and skinny jeans. This will help you extend the life of your favorite summer tops. Add a pair of slides or mules and a crossbody handbag and you have the perfect day time Fall outfit.

Rule #3 -- Add a Statement Jacket

Another reason why the cooler months are my absolute favorite!! JACKETS GALORE. They set the tone for the vibe and look of your outfit that can be worn over your summer tops and prints. Snag a few powerful statement making jackets that will stand out. The following will take your wardrobe from blah to wow:

  • Biker Jacket with a cropped waist line that cinches, paired perfectly with skinny jeans and booties
  • Toss on a Tailored Blazer with your favorite graphic tee, skinny and pumps and you're ready for a night on the town.
  • A classic trench coat in a print or neutral, such as camel or navy. This is a wardrobe staple that can be worn over your clothing or as a dress with a belt around your waist.

Even though cooler weather is on the horizon doesn't mean you have to rush and snag a completely new wardrobe just yet. By adding tights, jackets and layering your summer staples your summer clothes get to stay in a closet a little longer before being packed up and sent to the attic.

Until next time fly girls,

xx, Iman
